<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content playback device, content playback method, program, and content playback system. <P>SOLUTION: A content playback device has a data acquisition portion that acquires streaming data for content from a data transmission device; a storage portion that stores the streaming data acquired by the data acquisition portion in a storage medium; and a playback control portion that causes the data acquisition portion to temporarily halt acquisition of the streaming data from the data transmission device in response to a halt playback request, and to resume acquisition of streaming data in response to a playback request of content.
