BIPOLAR MEMBRANE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bipolar membrane which has a low membrane electric potential and prevents the stripping of a cationic exchange resin layer and an anion exchange resin layer even if used for a long term.

SOLUTION: The bipolar membrane is characterized in that either one of the cation exchange resin layer or anion exchange resin layer fills vacant pores of microporous membrane comprised of polyolefin oriented film and in that the adhesion or bonding of the interface between each layer is enhanced by allowing a thermoplastic resin with a softening point of 140°C or lower to exist in the matrix of the ion exchange resin existing in at least either one of the layers.
