PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for stably flameresisting a precursor fiber. SOLUTION: The flameproofing apparatus includes a flameproofing furnace 10 for carrying out flameproofing operation of a fiber bundle 2 by a heated oxidizing gas, an oxidizing gas feed passage 14 for feeding the oxidizing gas to the flameproofing furnace 10, a discharge gas-treating device 16 for burning a discharge gas from the flameproofing furnace 10 and a heat exchanger 18 for carrying out heat exchange between the oxidizing gas which flows through the oxidizing gas feed passage 14 and the discharge gas from the discharge gas-treating device 16.
