PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of performing optimal correction at any part in a reading area. SOLUTION: The image reader includes: a reading means for reading an image by irradiating the image with light; a storage means for storing read image information; and a correction means for correcting the image information of the image read by the reading means based on a variation in a reflected light quantity of a reading object obtained from the reading object extending in the main scanning direction of the reading means and read by the reading means, the image information of the reading object stored in the storage means, and the image information of the reading object read by the reading means before starting the reading of the image.
