PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of shortening a defrosting time. SOLUTION: This air conditioner 10 in which a compressor 11, a condenser 12, an expanding mechanism 13 and an evaporator 14 are connected by pipes p1, p2, p3, p4 in a state that a refrigerant can be circulated therethrough, a hot gas bypass pipe 30 is disposed to connect the pipe p1 at a discharge side of the compressor 11 and the pipe p3 at an upstream side of the evaporator 14, and the hot gas bypass pipe 30 has a proximal portion 32 adjacent to the pipe p4 at a downstream side of the evaporator 14.
