PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum foil material for an electrolytic capacitor anode in which deterioration in etching properties with the lapse of time can be prevented compared with those directly after its production, and further, excellent etching properties can be obtained even directly after the production, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: Disclosed is an aluminum foil material having the average purity of≥99.9%, is characterized in that≥1% Si and≥0.1% Ca are incorporated into the surface layer within a depth of 50 nm from the surface to a thickness direction, and is produced by bringing an aluminum foil material into contact with a silicate aqueous solution comprising Ca ions, and performing annealing.
