PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerator 1, making sticking hard to be caused, even if it is caused, a pedal arm 3 surely returns to a resting position, and even if stepping force is impressed thereafter, capable of stable stepping operation. SOLUTION: An operation resistance generating means 10 and a hysteresis generating means 20 are structurally separated. The operation resistance generating means 10 respectively and independently energizes first and second return springs 11 and 12 to first and second movable members 13 and 14 to constitute a two-piece combination spring structure inside and outside a linearly moving type of respectively and independently pushing back to an original position. The hysteresis generating means 20 for generating hysteresis in response to an increase-decrease in operation resistance, is composed of a rotary part 33 moving in the rotary shaft direction by rotation of the pedal arm 3 and a friction plate 36 for increasing-decreasing frictional force by pressing force of the rotary part 33. Thus, the sticking is hardly caused, and even if the sticking is caused, the pedal arm 3 surely returns to the resting position, and stepping thereafter can be stably operated.
