PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casing monitoring device for detecting and measuring the casing inside temperature without adding a temperature sensor and a signal conductor, in addition to detection of opening-closing of a casing. SOLUTION: This casing monitoring device has a photodiode 11 arranged in an electronic unit casing 1, a first detecting means 13 detecting an inverse directional current-voltage characteristic of the photodiode 11, a casing opening-closing determining means 14 determining opening-closing the casing 1 based on the detected inverse directional current-voltage characteristic of the photodiode 11 and an inverse directional current-voltage characteristic corresponding to an incident light quantity, a second detecting means 15 detecting a forward directional current-voltage characteristic of the photodiode 11, and a casing inside temperature determining means 16 determining the temperature in the casing 1 based on the detected forward directional current-voltage characteristic of the photodiode 11 and a forward directional current-voltage characteristic corresponding to the temperature.
