PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet image forming apparatus and its control method for rapidly and accurately performing a series of operation to measure the temperature of each nozzle of a print head and to detect and compensate for a missing nozzle during printing of print data. SOLUTION: The ink-jet image forming apparatus comprises: a temperature sensing part provided at the print head and having a plurality of temperature sensors for individually sensing the temperatures of a plurality of nozzles; a selecting part for selectively driving the plurality of temperature sensors of the temperature sensing part; and a control part for controlling the selecting part to drive the plurality of temperature sensors sequentially, detecting the missing nozzle according to the temperatures sensed by the plurality of temperature sensors and compensating for the detected missing nozzle.
