Method for the production of openings (1) in a metal foil (2) comprising at least the following steps: a) preparation of a planar metal foil (2), b) production of at least one bend (3) in the metal foil (2), c) production of at least one opening (1) in the region of at least one bend (3) by means of a machinable production method. Grinding tools are preferably used for this method. The invention also relates to exhaust treatment units for mobile internal-combustion engines produced by such a method.
