PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device capable of communication after an authentication process and an automatic authentication control method that implement a simple automatic authentication process. SOLUTION: When a power plug on either of two communication devices 1 and 2 having authentication processing means such as authentication identification information processing parts 13 and 23 and capable of intercommunication after an authentication process is inserted into a power plug socket of the other, a detection means such as a power plug connection detection part 17a detects a power plug connection detection signal by contact point contact or supply current detection. In response to the power plug connection detection signal from the detection means, the authentication processing means such as the authentication identification information processing part 13 is started to execute the authentication process of the communication device 2.
