PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food storage capable of achieving good food preservation state and usability while suppressing increase of power consumption, even when food composed of lump of small pieces is preserved. SOLUTION: In this food storage, a deaerating cycle composed of a deaerating process by a deaerating means 160, a deaeration retaining process, a deaeration releasing process and a deaeration releasing retaining process is performed at least one time immediately after storing food inside of a sealed container 161 disposed inside of a switching chamber 111, and a gas in a freezing compartment 113 having a temperature lower than a prescribed temperature of the switching chamber 111 is introduced into the sealed container 161 in the deaeration releasing process, thus the fresh air can be easily permeated to a fine space among the small pieces even when the food composed of the lump of small pieces such as minced beef is preserved, the change to a food preservation temperature can be quickened, dew condensation and frost formation inside of the sealed container 161 can be suppressed, and a food preservation state superior in freshness keeping property, and high usability free from the work for eliminating dew condensation and frost formation can be achieved.
