PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the size of an electric compressor in the parallel-arranged direction of a compression mechanism part and a motor. SOLUTION: In this electric compressor 1, the compression mechanism part 10 and the motor are contained in a housing 2 parallel to each other. A refrigerant suction passage 18a for sucking a refrigerant to the compression mechanism part 10 is formed on the inner surface of the side wall 21 of a housing 2 closing the surface of the housing orthogonal to the parallel-arranged direction N of the compression mechanism part 10 and the motor. A first storage recess 23 and a second storage recess are formed on the outer surface of the side wall 21.
