PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formable fireproof coating that can form carbonized foam layers with a satisfactory foaming ratio, strength and the like, and also has an excellent fireproof property. SOLUTION: In the foamable fireproof coating that contains a synthetic resin emulsion, a phosphorus compound, a polyhydric alcohol, and a filler, a synthetic resin emulsion having hydroxyl groups and a hydroxyl value of 0.1 to 100 mg KOH/g based on the resin solid content is used. In particular, the synthetic resin emulsion is preferably an emulsion polymerized polymer from monomer groups mainly including an alkyl (meth)acrylate and/or aromatic monomers and the monomer groups preferably include 0.5 to 10 wt.% of hydroxyl group-bearing monomers.
