PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thiazole-substituted acrylonitrile-based compound. SOLUTION: A thiazole-substituted acetonitrile compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, Q represents a thiazolyl group which may be substituted) is reacted with an alkali metal hydroxide in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst in a mixed solvent of a hydrocarbon solvent with a polar solvent. An alkali metal salt represented by formula (2) and produced while azeotropically distilling away water formed as a by-product under reduced pressure is reacted with a thiazolecarboxylic acid chloride represented by formula (3) (wherein, A represents a thiazolyl group which may be substituted) to afford the thiazole-substituted acrylonitrile-based compound represented by formula (4).
