PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee bracket without largely increasing the mass of a shock absorbing mechanism, for reducing an injury value of an occupant, by reducing a load to a knee in a head-on collision, while largely reducing a deformation stroke. SOLUTION: This shock absorbing knee bracket 1 is arranged inside an instrument panel in the front in a cabin I, and has a cross-sectional U-shaped knee bracket body 3 having a bending part 2a, and a cross-sectional hat-shaped reinforcing member 7 having its recessed part 8 oppositely joined to a recessed part 9 of the knee bracket body 3 so as to cover the bending part 2a on the inner bottom surface of the knee bracket body 3 and having a thickness of about 1.0/1.6 of the thickness of the knee bracket body 3.
