摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image having high sharpness even in increasing the number of focus detection pixels in an image pickup device. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 100 has: the image pickup device 104, having a first group of pixels 105 for photoelectrically converting an object image, and a second group of pixels 106 including a plurality of focus detection pixels for photoelectrically converting divided luminous flux in luminous flux from the imaging optical system 101; a focus detection means 108 for detecting the focus state of the imaging optical system based on output from the second group of pixels; a frequency component detection means 109 for detecting the spatial frequency component of the objective image formed on the first group of pixels; an image generation means 111 for generating a partial image corresponding to the second group of pixels of an image obtained by output from an image pickup device based on the output of the first group of pixels.
