PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily and surely replace a cartridge, while preventing an air bubble and dust from entering an ink supply path and ink from dripping down. SOLUTION: The ink cartridge 20A has: a first unit 50 which is provided with a liquid storage chamber 53 and an ink outlet port 60a; a second unit 51 which is relatively movable between a position close to the first unit 50 and a position away from the first unit 50; and a spring 52 which energizes the second unit 51 in the close position toward the away position. A lock member 81 can lock the second unit 51 of the ink cartridge 20A attached to a cartridge mounting section 19 to the close position, a controller 40 causes the lock member 81 to perform a lock releasing operation, according to an electric signal for permitting the replacement of the ink cartridge 20A and when the second unit 51 is moved from the close position to the away position by the energizing force of the spring 52, when locking is released, an ink inlet port 90a is kept in such a state that it is joined to the ink outlet port 60a.
