PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug for an internal combustion engine capable of fully preventing generation of noises at the time of detection of ion current, and to provide a manufacturing method for the spark plug. SOLUTION: The spark plug for the internal combustion engine 1 includes a center electrode 2, an insulator 3 which penetrates and holds the center electrode 2 in the inside, a housing 4 which penetrates and holds the insulator 3 inside, and a ground electrode 5 which is jointed to the housing 4 and forms a spark discharge gap 11 between the center electrode 2. A conducting thin film 61 is formed, on at least a part of the outer circumferential face 31 of the insulator 3 that is opposed to the inner circumferential face 41 of the housing 4. A frame electrode 62, having a thickness larger than the conducting thin film 61, is formed along the direction, having an axial direction component of the spark plug 1.
