PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stability of tracking servo by a tracking error signal which gets rid of effect of an interlayer stray light. SOLUTION: The driving unit for an optical recording medium comprises an integrated optical device 3 equipped with an optical detector for outputting a signal based on an intensity of a light spot received from an optical disk at each area of the light-receiving section, a DSP 10 for generating a lens position signal and a push-pull signal, and a micro computer 11 for detecting the tracking error signal TE by calculating MPP1-K×CE-L×MPP2 wherein K is a coefficient for level adjustment of the push-pull signal and lens position signal, L is a coefficient for level adjustment for an offset component of the interlayer stray light, MPP1 is the push-pull signal of one optical spot, MPP2 is the push-pull signal of the other optical spot, and CE is the lens position signal.
