Provided are an aligning apparatus (10) for aligning the entire side circumference surface of a work (12) in a noncontact manner, and an aligning method relating to such aligning apparatus. The work (12) is provided with first to fourth side surfaces (28a-28d). The aligning apparatus is provided with a hole (16) for inserting the work (12); and a first blow out port (32a) to a fourth blow out port (32d) respectively formed on a first inner wall surface (30a) to which the first side surface (28a) of the work (12) faces, a second inner wall surface (30b) to which the second side surface (28b) of the work (12) faces, a third inner wall surface (30c) to which the third side surface (28c) of the work (12) faces, and a fourth inner wall surface (30d) to which the fourth side surface (28d) of the work (12) faces, among the inner wall surfaces of the hole (16). The work (12) is aligned in the hole (16) by blowing out air from the first to the fourth blow out ports (32a-32d) to jet air to the first to the fourth side surfaces (28a-28d) of the work (12).
