The system has measuring sensors (5-1 to 5-n) for measuring change of capacitance developed in an operating area. A reference sensor (4) has a fixed connection to the area, where each of the sensors is connected to a separate reinforcing channel (7, 8-1, 8-n) of an electronic evaluating device. The evaluating device has a switching device arranged in a switching structure. The switching device processes an output signal (10, 11-1 to 11-n) of the reference reinforcing channel (7) and produces an adjusting signal, which is fed to a generator (1) for modulating an excitation signal.
