A battery saving method for clearly recognizing the peripheral status of a terminal and controlling the operation of the terminal and a terminal using the same are provided to prevent the waste of the battery due to automatically blocking the output of the video data by recognizing the peripheral status of the terminal. A terminal recognizes the peripheral status of the terminal in which moving-picture data are reproduced(S12). If the changed matter is recognized in the peripheral status, the terminal reproduced audio data of moving-picture data outputs and the interruption of video data is called(S13, S14). A decoder decodes broadcasting signal and moving picture data. A transmitting/receiving part transmits and receives moving picture data connected to a computer by receiving the broadcast signal.
