PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder using a flash lamp, and eliminating unevenness of shades in an entire image. SOLUTION: The image recorder 10 has a function of writing an image in non-contact with a thermosensitive medium, and is equipped with: a flash lamp 1 emitting flash light and radiating it; an optical system 2 converging the light radiated from the flash lamp 1; a filter 3 through which at least a near infrared ray of the light converged by the optical system 2 passes; an image projection device 4 projecting inputted image data as an image by using the near infrared ray passing through the filter 3; and a projection lens 5 projecting the image projected from the image projection device 4 to the thermosensitive member 20. The image projection device 4 has a light quantity control means which controls so that the light quantity of the near infrared ray used to project a specified area where heat storage is relatively large in all the area of the image may be decreased.
