PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document feeder capable of miniaturization and cost reduction by changing a method of reading the next document in accordance with a document interval, to provide an image reader having the same, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A reading mode is provided for reading a plurality of documents and in the case that a document interval between a rear end of a document and a front end of the next document is equal to or greater than a predetermined value when reading is finished, control is performed to change the document reading mode.
