PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a channel efficiently even if the number of channels broadcasting a program is small. SOLUTION: An MPU 11 of a digital broadcast receiver includes: a program presence/absence determination section 114 for determining whether there is a program being broadcasted currently, based on electronic program schedule information in digital broadcast corresponding to a display channel received via a remote controller 2; a candidate determination section 116 that determines whether there is a first selection candidate program that has the same genre information as that stored at a genre storage section 122 and is being broadcasted when it is determined that there are no programs being broadcasted based on the electronic program schedule information; a candidate program acquisition section 117 for acquiring channel number information corresponding to the first selection candidate program from the electronic program schedule information, when it is determined that there is the first selection program candidate program; and a display control section 119 for displaying the acquired channel number information on a display 173.
