PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a chapter skip to a playback position desired to be viewed, with excellent user friendliness. SOLUTION: A micro processing unit (MPU) 11 of a hard disk drive (HDD) recorder comprises: a skip accepting section 113 which accepts an instruction for skip a playback position of video information stored in a video storage section 191 for the preset unit of a chapter to a skip destination position that is a leading position of the chapter in a play direction or in a reverse direction, based on operation input accepted via a remote controller 3; a display mode setting section 112 which sets a display mode of the skip destination position onto a display 21 based on operation input accepted via the remote controller 3; a display control section 115 which displays the skip destination position on the display 21 according to the display mode set; and a skip execution section 116 which skips the playback position to the skip destination position based on operation input accepted via the remote controller 3.
