PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in an image while suppressing the occurrence of a side effect due to misregistration correction. SOLUTION: A projector comprises: a side effect countermeasure processing section (frequency characteristic correcting section) 1 for correcting frequency characteristics of chrominance signals as side effect countermeasures due to misregistration correction; a moving amount calculating section 2 for calculating a misregistration amount, for each pixel, of another color with respect to a reference color with precision of a magnitude smaller than 1 pixel: a misregistration correction processing section 4 which performs signal processing for correcting misregistration with the precision of the magnitude smaller than 1 pixel for each pixel of the chrominance signal of the other color, based on the misregistration amount calculated by the moving amount calculating section 2; and a signal generating section 3 which generates and outputs a chrominance signal to be subjected to a signal processing in the misregistration correction processing section 4 from chrominance signals before correction and chrominance signals after correction by the side effect countermeasure processing section 1, based on the misregistration amount calculated by the moving amount calculating section 2.
