PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosing and treating cancers related to a tumor suppressor designated as TS10q23.3.

SOLUTION: The isolated polypeptide has a specific amino acid sequence encoding the tumor suppressor. The monoclonal antibody is immunologically bound to the tumor suppressor. A hybridoma cell produces the monoclonal antibody. The isolated nucleic acid or its complement contains a region encoding the tumor suppressor, its allele variant or mutant. The method for diagnosing cancers comprises a process for assaying the expression of the tumor suppressor. The method for treating cancers comprises a process for bringing a tumor cell into contact with the tumor suppressor under conditions to take in the tumor suppressor by the tumor cell.
