PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vending machine for shortening a time required to detect a face. SOLUTION: Two cameras are arranged at left and right sides of the front face of the vending machine respectively with a predetermined space, and a distance image is generated on the basis of two left and right images generated by the cameras (S1). A region closer than a predetermined distance is extracted as a person region from the distance image (S2), and the face of a customer is detected from the person region (S5). Not the entire photographic image but only the person region is searched. Visit of a customer is determined when a person region is started to be recognized (YES in S3), and it is determined that the customer leaves when the person region is not recognized any more (YES in S9). When merchandise is purchased (YES in S11), the customer is classified as a purchase customer (S12), and when the merchandise is not purchased (NO in S11), the customer is classified as a non-purchase customer (S14).
