PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which an electric charge remaining on a substrate is discharged from a frame area when the substrate is held by an electrostatic chuck in a step of sticking substrates to each other, or the like, so that display irregularity can be prevented, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with: a pair of substrates arranged to be opposed to each other; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of substrates. A projecting part and an electrically conductive film formed on the projecting part are arranged in the frame area of at least one of the pair of substrates, which is positioned on the outside of a display area thereof.
