PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effectiveβ1-specificβ-adrenergic receptor blocker having a short action time. SOLUTION: A concrete example of theβ1-specificβ-adrenergic receptor blocker is 1-(2-cyano-4-(2-(2-methylpropoxy)ethoxy)phenoxy)-2-hydroxy-3-(2-(4-methoxyphenoxy)ethylamino)propane. S(-)-1-(4-(2-ethoxyethoxy)phenoxy)-2-hydroxy-3-(2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethylamino)propane and physiologically acceptable hydrolysable derivatives thereof having a hydroxy group in the 2-position of the 3-aminopropoxy side chain in an esterified form are provided in a racemic or optically active form of the compound or derivatives thereof, and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts are also provided.
