PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying device excellent in carriage of paper sheets. SOLUTION: The paper sheet carrying device has: a sensor 100 disposed near a connection part of each air delivery tube 22 and a common tube path 82, and detecting passage of the paper sheets; an upstream tube path 102 upstream of the air delivery tube 22 of the uppermost stream with respect to the common tube path 82; and an on-off valve 104 opening/closing the upstream tube path 102. When the paper sheets are put in one air delivery tube out of the air delivery tubes 22, a control part 90 opens an on-off valve 80 of one air delivery tube 22. If it is detected that the paper sheets are put in the other air delivery pipe 22, the control part closes the on-off valve 80 of one air delivery tube 22 when the sensor 100 detects that the paper sheets carried in one air delivery pipe have reached the common tube path 82, and carries the paper sheets by opening the on-off valve 80 of the other air delivery tube 22. When the sensor 100 detects that the paper sheets of the other air delivery tube 22 has reached the common tube path 82, the control part 90 controls to close the on-off valve 80 of the other air delivery tube 22 and opens the on-off valve 104 of the upstream tube path 102.
