PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a post-processing device excellent in safety capable of extinguishing a fire on a paper discharging tray without spreading without deteriorating paper handling performance and operability and capable of preventing burning of a device main body by catching fire, and an image forming apparatus using it. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus 100 mounting a post-processing device 260, the post-processing device comprises a tray moving means 301 moving a paper discharging tray 261 in the vertical direction, a temperature detecting means 300 detecting the temperature rise in the vicinity of the paper discharging tray 261, and a paper recovery container 303 recovering paper S on the paper discharging tray 261, wherein the paper discharging tray 261 is tilted to allow the paper on the paper discharging tray 261 to fall into the paper recovery container 303 when the temperature rise in the vicinity of the paper discharging tray 261 is detected by the temperature detecting means 300.
