Provided is an electrostatic atomizer comprising a discharge electrode, to which a high voltage is applied, a counter electrode earthed to the ground through a ground line and so positioned in front of the discharge electrode as to confront the discharge electrode, and water feeding means for feeding water onto the discharge electrode, whereby the water on the discharge electrode is atomized by the discharge. A cylindrical shielding member, which is made of a material less conductive than the discharge electrode, is arranged on the side forward of the root side of the discharge electrode.
