PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize and record and/or reproduce parameters of disk-related information and recording-related information updated with change in recording speed or a version number by using a conventional version drive together. SOLUTION: The information storage medium includes: an area in which updated information is recorded with change of at least one out of information about existing control information, version information, timing information, and recording speed information; and a user data area in which a drive records and/or reproduce data by one out of updated control information corresponding to the used drive and existing control information.
