PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight by reducing the dimension of a connection part in the optical axis direction. SOLUTION: The telescope includes the connection part 30 which connects right and left lens barrels constituting a telescopic optical system, and a focus bar 4 which is provided to the connection part 30 so as to extend in the optical axis direction of the telescopic optical system for transferring the drive force by rotation of a focus knob 6 and a diopter adjusting ring 7, which adjoin mutually to lenses in the lens barrels. One end of the focus bar 4 is arranged inside the focus knob 6. The telescope further comprises a focus shaft 3 which is placed inside each of the right and left lens barrels and moves a focus lens chamber 2 holding the lens in the optical axis direction, a first gear 3A provided to one end of the focus shaft 4, and a second gear 4B provided to the other end of the focus shaft 4 and engaged with the first gear 3A.
