PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas thermometer without having to change the structure of a protective tube and which is capable of preventing breakage of a thermocouple sheath of a joint. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas thermometer includes the thermocouple sheath 22 formed to be cylindrical and having a temperature-sensing part 23 at its tip, the protective tube formed to be cylindrical and having the sheath 22 to be inserted from a rear end to locate the sensing part 23 of the sheath 22 at the tip, and the joint 25 for fixing the thermocouple sheath, to the protective tube at the rear end of the protective tube. The outside diameter of a thermocouple sheath 22B on the joint 25 is set to be larger than that of a thermocouple sheath 22A on the temperature-sensing part, at the middle of the sheath 22 located inside the protective tube.
