PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable efficient absorption of vibration energy generated in a building body irrespective of period characteristics of earthquake vibrations, in a base isolated building. SOLUTION: A base isolation system comprises the base isolated building 10 provided with an isolator 13 supporting a building body 11 in a base isolating manner and a variable damper device 12 having a variable attenuation constant and absorbing the vibration energy generated in the building body 11, an earthquake information acquisition unit 22 acquiring earthquake information including an epicenter and the scale of the earthquake, an attenuation constant information acquisition unit 23 acquiring an optimal attenuation constant of the variable damper device 12 which enables efficient absorption of the vibration energy generated in the building body 11 by the earthquake, based on the earthquake information acquired by the earthquake information acquisition unit 22 and referring to an attenuation constant database 24, and a control unit 21 adjusting the attenuation constant of the variable damper device 12 to the optimal attenuation constant obtained by the attenuation constant information acquisition unit 23.
