PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a degassing apparatus which can satisfactorily remove H<SB>2</SB>gas in a molten metal and inclusions. SOLUTION: A degassing apparatus 1 is characterized in that it comprises a degassing chamber 4 for agitating a molten metal by rotation with an agitator body 5 for degassing, an opening part 3 for allowing the molten metal to flow out from the degassing chamber 4 is provided on a side wall 1b, and a shroud 6 for surrounding the opening part 3 is provided so as to be opened on the downstream side of the molten metal being passed.
