<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording device in which information related to the number of recordable data after deleting data is displayed before actual deletion. <P>SOLUTION: A control apparatus 104 records acquired data in a recording medium after processing the data as to be a data size in accordance with a predetermined data acquiring condition in which its acquisition data size is set in advance. A free space detection section 104b specifies deletion object data to be a deletion object from the data recorded in the recording medium in response to an instruction from a user. The data size of the specified deletion object data (the deletion data size) is obtained, and the number of acquiring data recordable in the recording medium by deleting the deletion object data in the case that the data size of the data to be acquired is the acquisition data size is calculated based on the residual capacity of the recording medium, a deletion data size and the acquisition data size.
