PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply that suppresses harmonics. SOLUTION: In the commercial power supply 2, a drain terminal of MOSFET 202 is connected to a rectifier 106, a source terminal is connected to a diode 110 via a current detection resistor 204, and the gate terminal is connected to an applied voltage control section 20. If an applied voltage Vgs, generated by the applied voltage control section 20, is applied to the gate terminal, the MOSFET 202 allow the drain current to flow between the drain terminal and the source terminal. The applied voltage control section 20 detects the peak value of an input current Iin and converts the detected peak value of the input current Iin into the peak value of the current, where a harmonic component is suppressed. Furthermore, the applied voltage control section 20 generates the applied voltage Vgs that applies voltage to the gate terminal of the MOSFET 202, based on the converted current peak value.
