PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve starting characteristics of an oscillator using a quartz vibrator. SOLUTION: The oscillator includes: a first terminal; a second terminal; a resistive element and an inductor connected in series between the first and second terminals; a vibrator connected in parallel with the resistive element; a capacitor connected between the first and second terminals; and an oscillation circuit section that is connected between the first and second terminals and makes the vibrator vibrate. The value of inductance of the inductor, the value of resistance of the resistive element, the value of equivalent series inductance of the vibrator, and the value of equivalent series resistance of the vibrator should satisfy the relationship of (the value of inductance of the inductor/the value of resistance of the resistive element)<(the value of equivalent series inductance of the vibrator/the value of equivalent series resistance of the vibrator).
