PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate distortion when reading a detection signal in a pixel mixed manner from a solid-state imaging element. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a pixel mixed reading method of a solid-state imaging element for color image pickup comprising a plurality of pixels arranged and formed in a two-dimensional array shape, the solid-state imaging element in which color arrangements at positions of the centers of gravity of a plurality of neighboring pixels in the same colors are different from a pixel color arrangement arranged in the two-dimensional array shape, wherein regarding colors (G, B) of portions in which the color arrangements at positions of the centers of gravity become identical to the pixel color arrangements, detection signals of the plurality of neighboring pixels in the same colors are added and read, and regarding a color (R) of a portion in which the color arrangement at the position of the center of gravity becomes different from the pixel color arrangement, detection signals of pixels, among the plurality of neighboring pixels in the same colors, at positions becoming identical to the pixel color arrangements are individually read.
