PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition that reconciles improvements in both of gripping performance on an iced and snowy road surface (wet-on-ice state and dry-on-ice state) and wearing property on an ordinary (dry) road surface with a sufficient balance, as well as to provide a tread rubber for a studless tire using the same, and a studless tire using the tread rubber for the tread. SOLUTION: This rubber composition comprises a rubber component containing 5-100 wt.% of a butadiene rubber having a styrene oligomer coupled at a terminal.
