摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grip detecting mechanism for a grip type steering handlebar capable of accurately and securely detecting a state that the grip type steering handlebar is normally gripped. SOLUTION: When a grip 11 of a grip type steering handlebar 12 is normally gripped, light emitted from a photo-electric sensor 2 is reflected by the hand of a driver, and the photo-electric sensor 2 detects the reflected light, and the state that the grip type steering handlebar 12 is normally gripped is detected. On the other hand, when the grip 11 of the grip type steering handlebar 12 is not gripped, the light L emitted from the photo-electric sensor 2 passes an upper portion slightly above the grip 11 of the grip type steering handlebar 12, is blocked by the inclined surface 14 of a grip end 13, and reflected upward. The detection of the reflected light by the photo-electric sensor 2 is thereby prevented, and the state that the grip type steering handlebar 12 is not gripped is detected.
