PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a correction value more accurately to correct a deviation by reducing the effect of a satellite when in obtaining the correction value for correcting the tilting deviation causing image defects such as unevenness and streaks from a test pattern. SOLUTION: Information regarding the tilt of a recording head is detected on the basis of the test pattern by recording the test pattern with a scanning rate slower than that in normal recording. Then, a correction value for correcting a dot recording position recorded by the recording head is obtained according to the information, so that the correction is carried out.
