A method for recording a broadcast program and a portable device using the same are provided to delete or skip advertisement included in a broadcast program and extract and store only data related to a main broadcast program, thereby selectively recording and storing a broadcast program included in a broadcast signal.. A wireless frequency unit(110) maintains an activation state while receiving a broadcast signal. The wireless frequency unit transmits a communication call and a message to a control unit(160) to process generation of a communication call and receipt of a message generated while receiving a broadcast first. An input unit(120) generates a key input signal for performing broadcast reservation recording or recording and transmits the key input signal to the control unit.
