A push-fit pipe fitting comprises a fitting having a body portion 2 defining a bore 3 for receiving a pipe 6, the bore being provided with gripping means 8 for retaining the said pipe within the bore, and a seal 10 for effecting a seal between the pipe and the fitting, a sleeve / insert 4 adapted to be received at an end portion of the pipe, the bore 3 and insert 4 comprising first 14 and second location 36 formations respectively adapted to cooperate in a tactile and/or audible manner. Once the pipe has been inserted a predetermined length, a noise would be heard, and/or engagement would be felt. Preferably the sleeve 4 is located within the end portion of the pipe when in use and extends axially therefrom, the extension comprising the location formation adapted to cooperate with complimentary location formations on fitting. |
