<p>A steam reaction process, in particular a steam-hydrocarbon process, comprising the steps of:
- transferring heat and mass from a first liquid water stream to a feed stream in a first direct heat and mass exchange in which said feed stream is substantially saturated with steam evaporated from said first liquid water stream;
- reacting at least part of said feed stream with at least part of said steam so as to produce an output stream comprising at least one reaction product and steam;
- transferring heat and mass from said output stream to a second liquid water stream in a second direct heat and mass exchange in which water is condensed from said output stream; wherein
- said first liquid water stream comprises at least part of a liquid water output from the second direct heat and mass exchange;
- said second liquid water stream comprises at least part of a liquid water output from the first direct heat and mass exchange;
wherein more water is evaporated in the first direct heat and mass exchange than is condensed in the second direct heat and mass exchange, and an additional liquid water stream is introduced in the second direct heat and mass exchange so as to maintain the liquid water balance in the process.</p> |
